Supervisor Mike McGuire holding November 17th Town Hall Meeting to discuss Asti Summer Crossing

Santa Rosa, CA (November 4, 2011) – MEDIA ADVISORY

Supervisor Mike McGuire
Town hall meeting with residents to discuss the Asti Summer Crossing
Thursday, November 17, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Cloverdale Fire Station
451 S. Cloverdale Blvd
Cloverdale, CA 95425

4th District Supervisor, Mike McGuire will be hosting a Town Hall meeting in Cloverdale to discuss potential funding options which could extend the season of the Asti Summer Crossing. Currently, the Crossing in opened in late Spring or early Summer – depending on weather and permitting from regulatory agencies – and is closed when the State of California declares the end of fire season. Representatives from Sonoma County Transportation and Public Works Department, the Planning Department and the Cloverdale Fire Protection District will also be present and making brief presentations on the topic.

Supervisor Mike McGuire commented, The summer bridge is a critical connection for the community and for emergency responders. Several neighbors have contacted us to talk about the summer crossing and we want to bring some potential solutions to the table. The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss what options exist for lengthening the amount of time the bridge remains in place each year.

Cloverdale Fire Chief Jason Jenkins, I appreciate Supervisor McGuire bringing us together to discuss options to keeping this vital crossing open longer. The Asti Summer bridge reduces response times for emergency resources. We look forward to being a partner in these discussions.
